The Preservation Journal
Old Houses. Enduring Stories. New Beginnings.
There's something about an old house that has always captured my heart.
The worn wooden floors. The grand staircases. The weathered porches. The windows that have watched generations come and go.
Some people walk into an old house and see everything that needs repairing.
I walk in and wonder about everything worth saving.
I see the craftsmanship. The character. The history. The beauty that has survived the passing years.
And somewhere along the way, I began to realize something.
Maybe that's why I have such a heart for midlife women, too.
Because we have stories.
We've weathered storms. We've raised families, built careers, experienced loss, celebrated victories, and carried responsibilities that nobody else may ever fully understand.
Life has left its marks on us, just as time leaves its marks on an old house.
But those marks don't diminish our worth.
They tell a story of a life that has been lived.
An old house doesn't lose its value simply because it's no longer new.
And neither does a woman.
At The Midlife Well, I want women to recognize that the second half of life isn't simply about looking back at what used to be.
It's about discovering what can still become.
New friendships. New dreams. New opportunities to learn, serve, grow, and live with purpose.
And just as I dream of preserving a beautiful historic home, I dream of creating a community where women can gather, share their stories, encourage one another, and find practical resources to help them move forward.
Someday, I hope those two dreams will meet beneath the roof of an old house.
A house where history is honored, laughter fills the rooms, Bibles rest on the tables, and women are reminded that their stories are far from finished.
Because some things become more beautiful with time.
And some of the best chapters are still waiting to be written.
